The City of Ketchikan Wastewater Division will conduct a smoke test of the Stedman Street sewer line near Schmolck Mechanical Contractors starting at 10 a.m. Friday.

Ketchikan Medical Center has won a three-year, $3 million grant from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services. The grant will go toward improving patient care coordination.

City of Ketchikan voters approved a bond proposition Tuesday by a wide margin, allowing the city to issue up to $5 million in bonds for harbor improvements. Voter turnout was low, however, with only 7 percent of registered voters showing up to vote.

Starting Wednesday morning, a short section of Water Street will be closed between Lund Street and Tongass Avenue to repair a broken water pipe.
