A 5-year-old girl was struck by a car and received minor injuries Thursday morning as she was exiting her school bus at Houghtaling Elementary School.

The newly formed Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District Indian Policy and Procedures Committee has scheduled two public meetings, December 11th and December 13th, with both starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Saxman Community Center.

Ketchikan Indian Community’s special election on Sunday didn’t attract the minimum 30 percent of registered voters required, so the results are not valid.

An extra 34 regular-education students, plus 16 more intensive special-needs students, means the Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District will receive nearly $1.5 million more than budgeted for this school year, bringing the new budget to about $36.4 million.
