Alaska State Troopers arrested a Metlakatla man last week on six felony charges of sexual abuse of a minor. Troopers believe 72-year-old Harry Olsen may have had other victims, and are encouraging anyone with information to contact investigators.

According to the charging document against Olsen, he sexually abused a 13-year-old girl in the Southeast community in the summers of 2021 and 2022.

The victim’s mother said, after the second incident, she reported the abuse to Metlakatla police, but that nothing came of it and she was eventually told the case was being closed, the charges say.

Investigators also interviewed Olsen, who denied touching the victim in a sexual way, the charges say.

Troopers believe Olsen may have abused or assaulted other people, and are asking anyone with more information to call (907) 451-5100 or submit an anonymous tip online or by texting “AKTIPS” followed by the information to the number 847-411. Olsen is in custody at the Ketchikan Correctional Center.
