Whether its due to economic reasons or the opioid crisis or pure circumstance, a large number of Ketchikan grandparents and elders are struggling with parenting all over again — being caregivers for their children or grandchildren. As a result, Bobbie McCreary says that many of these grandparents are also fighting economic hardships and food insecurity. McCreary has teamed up with Marguerite Auger and the Andiamo Dance Company to put on a food drive to help feed these grandparents and their dependents. Hear the pair (Bobbie McCreary and Marguerite Auger) talk about how they partnered together, how this problem affects Ketchikan, and how you can help:

The food drive will be held Saturday Nov. 23 and Sunday Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the lobby of the A&P Grocery Store. They are accepting any non-perishable food donations, gift cards, and/or monetary donations.
