Two new candidates entered the race for the Ketchikan School Board this week. There are three full term seats up for grabs, plus one single-year seat.

Jordan Tabb filed Wednesday for a full-term seat, and Michelle O’Brien filed Thursday to finish out the one-year term left by a resigned member.

Tabb served one term on the board from 2019 to 2022.

O’Brien, who’s the Executive Director of the Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce, served on the School Board consecutively from 2009 to 2017.

Keenan Sanderson, the current board vice president, is the only other candidate registered to run for School Board.

Even with these new filings, all three School Board candidates are currently running unopposed, and there’s still one more full-term seat without a candidate.

The deadline to enter the race for School Board, and all other local offices, is Monday, August 26 at noon.
