A 44-year-old man was found dead in the 300 block of Front Street in downtown Ketchikan over the weekend.

Chief Jeff Walls said in an email that on Saturday afternoon, police responded to reports of a body in the water near the downtown cruise ship dock.

Walls said that when officers arrived, they found the man’s body below the tideline underneath the Tongass Cement Dock, near the Sourdough Bar and Tongass Trading Company.

Ketchikan police have not yet identified the deceased man.

Walls said there don’t appear to be any signs of foul play, but that the investigation is ongoing.
