A Ketchikan resident is facing a series of felony drug and weapons charges after police seized almost 10,000 pills containing fentanyl over the weekend. 38-year-old Andrew Hanson faces multiple counts of second and third-degree misconduct involving weapons and controlled substances.
Ketchikan Police Department detectives carried out the search warrants on Jan. 12. In court documents, police say they found about a half pound of powders containing meth and fentanyl, almost $15,000 in cash, a .38 special handgun, and nearly 10,000 counterfeit oxycodone pills. The pills are believed to contain fentanyl.
The estimated street value of the seized drugs is close to $900,000. Hanson had his first court appearance on Jan. 15. Superior Court Judge Daniel Doty set total bail at $500,000. Hanson’s next court appearance is Jan. 18.
