The Prince of Wales Island community of Craig announced another case of COVID-19 Saturday. The nonresident individual is thought to have caught it from another positive patient already known to authorities, according to a statement from Craig emergency officials.
That statement says the new patient has followed state health mandates and their employer’s protocols since arriving in Alaska.
Officials say it’s the only confirmed active case on Prince of Wales Island — the previous five coronavirus patients on the island have now recovered, according to the statement.
Craig emergency officials urge residents to maintain pandemic precautions: stay home as much as possible, wear a face mask when going out for essential items and self-isolate if experiencing symptoms.
No new cases were reported in Ketchikan over the weekend.
