Police are seeking a Ketchikan woman who was accidentally released from a local jail shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday. Court documents say 24-year-old Samantha Wright was wearing a COVID-19 face mask when she impersonated her cellmate who was due to be released.
State Corrections officials listed her as “absconded” as of Thursday. No further information was released.
Wright is now facing felony charges for escaping in addition to other charges related to theft and failure to appear in court.
Alaska State Troopers say Wright was last wearing a navy blue shirt with a unicorn design, gray pants, brown boots and of course… a cloth mask.
