Two Ward Lake Recreation Area campgrounds will soon require advance reservations made online. All campsites in Last Chance and Signal Creek must be reserved and paid for through the website – recreation.gov. Fees will not be collected at the campgrounds after the changes go into effect on Thursday, May 21st.
According to a statement from the Ketchikan Misty Fjords Ranger District, the purpose is to reduce user conflict between walk-in campers and those who reserve online.
The fee is $10 per night per site and there is an $8 fee per transaction when made online. Same-day reservations will also be available.
The Three C’s campground, also located in the Ward Lake Recreation Area, is not affected. It can be reserved through the ranger district office. Day use of all campgrounds is still available without reservations.
