The Ketchikan City Council is meeting in special session Wednesday night to discuss the planning process for reconfiguring the downtown port and making other improvements within the city. At its July 18 meeting, the council scheduled the work session to decide what they would like to see in a Request for Proposals.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Public comment will be heard at the start of the work session.
A meeting with the consulting firm Bermello, Ajamil and Partners is scheduled for August 6th. That consulting firm is working with the city to develop a request for proposals, seeking a private-industry partner to fund port development.
At its August 15th regular meeting, the council plans to hear from Survey Point Holdings, a local group that has made a separate proposal to improve Berths 1 and 2.
