A 30-year-old Ketchikan man was medevaced Tuesday afternoon to Seattle following a motorcycle accident near Mile 3 South Tongass Highway.
According to Alaska State Troopers’ online dispatch, the man was northbound on a Yamaha motorcycle at around 4 p.m. when he lost control and went off the roadway. Troopers say the man hit a mailbox and a parked vehicle, and then was trapped under the parked vehicle.
South Tongass Volunteer Fire Department responded and was able to free the man. He was transported to PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center, and later medevaced to Harborview Medical Center.
According to troopers, the man was in stable condition but suffered serious injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates speed was a factor in the accident.
