Ketchikan Community Foundation has chosen its 2019 grant recipients and will announce about $20,000 worth of grant awards during an upcoming ceremony.
According to the foundation, 16 local nonprofit organizations submitted grant applications this year. Of those, eight were chosen for funding. Approved grants will be announced at 5:30 p.m. May 10 at the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center.
This marks the fourth year the foundation has awarded grants. Over the previous three years, the foundation has awarded almost $62,000 to 21 Ketchikan nonprofit organizations.
Ketchikan Community Foundation has a permanent fund, established under the umbrella of the Alaska Community Foundation. It uses a percentage of investments to distribute annual grants.
The local foundation has identified three funding themes that rotate each year. Grants this year focus on projects that apply to “Physical and Emotional Support.”
