Sen. Lisa Murkowski recently announced her summer interns. Twenty young Alaskans will work in her Washington, D.C., office over two month-long sessions. Two college students will serve as intern coordinators throughout the summer.

The summer interns for the first session, June 3rd through the 28th, include Hannah Rose Altland of Craig. During the second session, July 8th through Aug. 2nd, interns include Christopher James Brown of Ketchikan.

Other interns come from Juneau, Unalaska, Eagle River, Seward, Utqiagvik, Anchorage, Soldotna, Kenai, and Fairbanks. The intern coordinators are Clara Baldwin of Anchorage and Richard Schok of Fairbanks.

According to Murkowski’s office, her summer interns assist in day-to-day clerical and administrative tasks such as directing mail, interacting with Alaska visitors, and assisting staff with research. Interns also “shadow” Sen. Murkowski in her daily work in the U.S. Senate and around the Capitol.

Murkowski was a summer intern with Sen. Ted Stevens when she was a student.
