Gov. Mike Dunleavy will be in Ketchikan on Monday. During his visit to Alaska’s First City, the governor will make a presentation at a special Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce lunch, set for noon Monday at the Sunny Point Conference Center at The Landing.
According to a statement from the Chamber, there have been many questions about the governor’s visit, and about the fee for attending the event.
The Chamber has always charged for its lunch events, according to the statement. If someone wants to attend but not eat a meal, they are charged a $5 “listening fee.” Those charges help pay for the cost of the event.
There is limited seating at the Sunny Point Conference center. According to the Chamber, all the $20 seats for those eating lunch have been reserved. There were some $5 seats left, as of late Thursday afternoon.
KRBD and other local media plan to cover the Chamber event, for those who can’t attend.According to an announcement from the Southeast Alaska Pilot’s Association, Dunleavy also will be a guest speaker during the West Coast Pilot conference, set for Monday and Tuesday at Ketchikan’s Cape Fox Lodge.
