A 48-year-old Ketchikan man has been charged with first-degree sexual abuse of a minor for allegedly engaging in sexual acts with a 15-year-old girl.
Robert D. Chamberlain was arrested on March 15th, and had his first court appearance in the case the next day. Bail was set at $100,000.
According to the complaint filed in court by Alaska State Trooper James Kimura, troopers learned of the alleged abuse on March 13th, when the child’s mother reported it.
Troopers interviewed the mother and then talked to the girl, who initially denied any sexual relationship with Chamberlain. Troopers say that when she was presented with some alleged evidence, the girl admitted that some sex acts had occurred.
According to the complaint, Chamberlain denied any sexual relationship with the girl.
