Last weekend, Ketchikan High School hosted a Southeast Region Debate, Drama and Forensics meet. Teams from Sitka, Juneau, and Skagway participated in the two-day event. The Haines team was snowed in and unable to attend.
According to Ketchikan High School coach David Mitchel, 103 community members volunteered to judge the competition. Twenty-three teams participated in debate, with a total of 46 debate participants. Several Kayhi students took first place. Chris Brown received the most debate speaker points, and Seth Chernick won drama, humorous interpretation.
Mitchel provided a list of Kayhi students and their scores. We have those details posted on our website at KRBD.org.
The next meet is the State Championship, February 23rd and 24th in Anchorage.
