Metlakatla’s local elections were on Tuesday, coinciding with statewide and national mid-terms.

In that race, six seats were open on the Metlakatla Indian Community tribal council. Twelve candidates ran for those seats.

The top six candidates, in order of votes received, were Daniel Marsden Sr., Keolani Booth, Daniel Williams, John Marsden, Gavin Hudson and Matthew Bergtold.

The other candidates were Louie Wagner Jr., William Wilson, Edith Guthrie, Jim Scudero, Karen Thompson and Connie Darling.

According to the final report, 524 voters participated in Metlakatla’s local election. There are about 1,680 registered voters in that community.
