The Ketchikan City Council meets Thursday with a short agenda, including an executive session to discuss whether to offer the job of city clerk to Deputy City Clerk Kim Stanker.
Longtime Ketchikan City Clerk Katy Suiter is retiring. Her last day is Oct. 31st.
The city advertised the position internally, and received one application from Stanker. The council could offer her the position, or open the application opportunity to non-city employees.
Also in the packet for Thursday is an update on the Ketchikan Public Library’s wood-pellet boiler, which is broken. Public Works Director Mark Hilson reports that insurance will cover repair costs beyond the city’s $10,000 deductible, and will cover replacement if needed.
Hilson writes that staff plans to work with Wisewood Energy of Oregon. That company worked with the Ketchikan International Airport on its wood-pellet boiler system.
Thursday’s meeting starts at 7 p.m. in city council chambers. Public comment will be heard at the start of the meeting.
