The Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly and the Ketchikan School Board have scheduled special meetings this week.
The assembly’s meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Following public comment, assembly members will vote on placing a recall question on the Oct. 2nd local election ballot.
Sponsors of a petition to recall School Board President Trevor Shaw submitted completed petition books last week. The borough clerk certified them on Friday, stating that they had gathered more than the number of valid signatures needed to place the recall in front of voters.
The special school board meeting starts at 6 p.m. Thursday. Following public comment, the agenda calls for the board to enter executive session to discuss a personnel matter with legal counsel. The reason cited for the closed-door session is potential financial impact on the district.
Both special meetings will take place in borough assembly chambers at the White Cliff Building.
