A 58-year-old Klawock woman and a 60-year-old Seattle woman face felony drug charges after law enforcement officers served a search warrant at a Klawock home Saturday night, and found more than 56 grams of heroin.
Troopers estimate that amount of drugs has a street value of more than $56,000.
According to the Alaska State Troopers online dispatch, a team of Troopers, and Craig and Klawock police, executed the warrant at about 10 p.m. In addition to the heroin, officers say they seized digital scales, electronics and cash.
The defendants are Gae Yates of Klawock and Armetta Barden of Seattle. They both are charged with second-degree controlled-substance misconduct. Yates also faces fourth-degree drug charges, and Barden has an additional charge of fifth-degree drug misconduct.
According to troopers, the investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.
