The school district and borough budgets are on the agenda for Monday’s Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly meeting.
Work sessions are scheduled for both budgets before assembly members will vote on whether to introduce them. If approved, both will come back for public hearings and a second vote.
The ordinance authorizing the school district’s $42.3 million spending plan calls for local funds of about $8.6 million. Of that, about $4.7 million is required local funding. The rest is voluntary. The ordinance also shows about $75,000 worth of borough in-kind services to the school district.
The borough budget ordinance calls for appropriations of about $47.2 million.
Also on Monday’s agenda is a proposal to negotiate purchasing Alaska Mental Health Trust land next to the Mountain Point Boat Launch. The parcel in question has been used recreationally by the public. Development by the Trust Land Office would remove that traditional use.
Monday’s meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. in borough assembly chambers at the White Cliff building. Public comment will be heard at the start of the meeting.
