The Ketchikan School Board will vote Wednesday to accept board member Glenn Brown’s resignation, effective Feb. 1st.
Brown recently was hired as the new Ketchikan Gateway Borough attorney. In that position, he will sometimes advise the school board. Therefore, he can’t continue as a board member.
Also on Wednesday’s agenda is a resolution honoring Brown for his service as a school board member.
A public hearing is scheduled on a proposed change to board bylaws. The change calls for at least one official monthly meeting, rather than requiring two meetings per month. The change also calls for an annual calendar of meetings so the public will know the dates ahead of time.
During its previous meeting, board members said they still could hold a second meeting each month, perhaps as a work session in a less formal setting.
In other matters, the board will vote in second reading on next year’s school calendar, and will hear a report from Point Higgins Elementary School.
Wednesday’s meeting starts at 6 p.m. in borough assembly chambers at the White Cliff building. Public comment will be heard at the start and end of the meeting.
