Former Ketchikan resident Frances Leach will be the new executive director for a state commercial fishing trade organization, United Fishermen of Alaska.
According to an announcement from UFA, Leach will start her new job on Jan. 5th.
Leach lives in Juneau, but grew up in Ketchikan, part of a commercial fishing family.
In the announcement, she says Alaska’s commercial fishing industry faces challenges at the state and federal level, and she looks forward to meeting those challenges.
UFA is an umbrella association for commercial fishing interests. It represents 34 member organizations throughout Alaska.
