The Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly on Monday will review two local marijuana business licenses recently approved by the state Marijuana Control Board.
The first is for Cannabis Corner on Mud Bay Road near Totem Bight State Park. It would be run by Ayme and Kanoe Zantua. The proposed business already has borough conditional use and zoning permits.
The second license is for JWS Enterprises, a cultivation business on Gravina Island. It would be run by James Strassburg. The proposed business already has borough conditional use and zoning permits.
The Assembly can choose to protest the licenses based on certain factors, including the character and interests of the neighborhood.
Borough staff does not recommend protesting either license.
Also Monday, the Assembly has an executive session scheduled to discuss a proposed settlement offer on the borough’s appeal of the state’s determination of the borough’s overall property values.
That settlement offer is confidential. Portions will be made public if approved by the Assembly,
Monday’s meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. in Borough Assembly chambers at the White Cliff building. Public comment will be heard at the start of the meeting.
