Citing health concerns, Ketchikan City Council Member KJ Harris resigned his seat Friday morning.
Harris first was elected to the Council in 2005. He was re-elected in 2008, 2011 and, most recently, in 2014. His current term expires in fall of 2017.
According to city code, the Council will appoint someone to fill the vacant seat until next October’s regular election. It’s too late in the current election process for his seat to be on this year’s ballot.
