A 43-year-old Ketchikan woman died last night when the car she was driving rolled near Mile 5 South Tongass.
According to Alaska State Troopers online dispatch, Verna Edenshaw suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene of the accident. One passenger in the vehicle, Melissa Williams, 26, of Saxman, was injured and transported to a hospital in Anchorage for treatment.
Four other passengers were taken to PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center for evaluation.
The accident, which troopers say happened a little after 10:30 p.m., remains under investigation. Next of kin have been notified.
