Five Southeast Alaska artists are receiving Rasmuson Foundation grants to advance their work.
The five are among 36 Alaskans chosen for awards announced Wednesday.
Juneau photographer Ben Huff earned an $18,000 fellowship to start Ice Fog Press. It’s an independent publisher of art and photography books by Alaskans.
Hydaburg weaver Jacinthe TwoBulls received a $7,500 project award to create a contemporary cedar bark outfit out of materials she will harvest.
Oher project award-winners are:
- Tenakee Springs puppeteer Darius Mannino, to develop short works to be performed at his bakery.
- Juneau spoken word artist Christy NaMee Eriksen, to document her work in videos featuring new and revised poems.
- Juneau photographer Patrice Aphrodite Helmar, to buy a large-format camera and complete a series of photographs of hometown haunts for an exhibition.
