The Inter-Island Ferry Authority is planning a monthly summertime run between Coffman Cove on northern Prince of Wales Island and South Mitkof near Petersburg.
According to the IFA, the once-a-month ferry trip will help the State of Alaska satisfy obligations to the federal government to use the communities’ dock facilities, which were built with federal funds.
The northern route will be served with the IFA’s reserve ferry, so the seasonal service will not affect operations for the daily round-trip run between Hollis and Ketchikan.
The first northern ferry run is set for May 30th. The last one will be on September 26th.
You can see a full ferry schedule on the IFA website.
