An overdue hiker was found safe late Wednesday after she became lost in the Perseverance Lake area.
According to the Ketchikan Volunteer Rescue Squad, the 37-year-old Oregon woman had gone hiking with her boyfriend at around noon Wednesday, and they split up around 1 p.m. The boyfriend returned to their vehicle at the trailhead, but the woman never joined him there.
KVRS was notified at about 6 p.m., and began the search effort. Ground and canine search teams were sent out on the trail and in the Connell Lake area.
The woman was found near the shore of Perseverance Lake, according to KVRS, and was cold and wet, but otherwise not injured. She was given dry clothing and escorted back to the trailhead.
The woman and search teams were off the trail by about midnight.
