Some Ketchikan city voters received post cards in the mail this week, informing them of a change in their polling place.
Ketchikan Precinct 1, which was formerly at Schoenbar Middle School, is now located at the Gateway Recreation Center. Borough Clerk Kacie Paxton says the change was made with voters in mind.
“The Gateway Recreation Center has much more parking and is easily accessible and should be a very convenient polling place for voters.”
Paxton says all other precincts remain the same. In addition to the Gateway Recreation Center, other polling locations are:
- The Plaza
- The Alaska Marine Highway Ferry Terminal
- North Tongass Fire Stations #6 and #8
- The Saxman Community Center
- and Fawn Mountain Elementary School
Absentee voting begins next Monday, September 21st. You can vote in person at either the Borough or City clerk’s office. You can also vote absentee by mail, by fax or by email.
The municipal election is October 6th. Polls are open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.
