A 35-year-old Ketchikan woman was injured Thursday evening after she was hit by a car at the intersection of Totem Row and South Tongass Highway in Saxman.
According to Alaska State Troopers, Donna Peterson was crossing the street on foot at about 5:15 p.m. when she was hit head-on by a northbound 2012 Nissan Altima driven by 23-year-old Amber Sieni of Ketchikan.
Witnesses told troopers that Peterson hit the front windshield of the vehicle, went airborne over the vehicle and came to rest in the southbound lane of the highway.
Peterson was transported to PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center for treatment of injuries and was released the following day. Troopers report that no citations were issued.
