A 57-year-old Ketchikan man was rescued Saturday after he was reported overdue in the Coons Cove area.
According to Alaska State Troopers, William Johnson never showed up when his ride arrived to pick him up Friday from a surveying trip. He was reported overdue at about 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
Johnson was located by Ketchikan Volunteer Rescue Squad search teams at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday. He had suffered minor injuries, and was transported by helicopter to PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center.
According to Troopers, Johnson became lost when his GPS device froze and stopped working.
