The City of Ketchikan Wastewater Division will conduct a smoke test of the Stedman Street sewer line near Schmolck Mechanical Contractors starting at 10 a.m. Friday.
According to the city, the bluish-white smoke is nontoxic. It might enter buildings through broken private sewer service or sewer venting systems that are compromised.
If test smoke enters a building, occupants should report it to the Wastewater Division via cell phone at 254-1804 or 617-1742.
