Former Gov. Frank Murkowski speaks to a group at the First Bank Building in Ketchikan.
KETCHIKAN, ALASKA (2009-10-15) Alaska will soon be forced to shut down the Trans Alaska Pipeline due to declining oil production and residents should not expect revenue from a proposed gasline to fill the resulting economic void any time soon. That was former Governor Frank Murkowski’s sobering assessment of Alaska’s economic condition during a speech in Ketchikan Wednesday night.
