A body found floating in the Tongass Narrows over the weekend has been positively identified by the State Medical Examiner’s Office as Harris Hunter Wood II, 63 of Ketchikan.
According to Tuesday’s online Alaska State Troopers dispatch report, the autopsy results determined the cause of death to be drowning. Next of kin has been notified.
Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said on Monday afternoon that Alaska State Troopers received a phone call Saturday evening reporting a body in the water off North Tongass Highway.
“We did respond and located an adult male, but they weren’t able to positively ID the person at that time,” she said.
The body was then flown to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for an autopsy.
