The Ketchikan School Board will vote Wednesday on whether to submit the FY2017 school district budget to the Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly for review.
The district budget must be submitted by May 1.
The School Board already has held two public hearings on the budget, but delayed final approval and submission due to uncertainty about state education funding. Another public hearing is scheduled at the start of Wednesday’s meeting.
The district has requested about $7.6 million in local funding. That doesn’t include in-kind contributions from the Ketchikan Gateway Borough, such as use of borough-owned recreational facilities.
Also Wednesday, the School Board will consider an early graduation request from a Ketchikan High School junior who has completed all the requirements; and the Board will vote on a long-term teaching contract with Sherry Hendrickson.
The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in Borough Assembly chambers at the White Cliff building. Public comment will be heard at the start and end of the meeting, as well as during public hearings.
